First Welcome, to the Family!
At Alpha Kids Learning Academy, where learning is more than just the ABC’s. Our mission is to provide early childhood education and care in a safe, nurturing environment where families are active in their child’s early learning experience. At Alpha Kids, children and families are much more than clients they are our extended family and in return our Teachers and Staff are resources to your families and hope to become your extended family.
At Alpha Kids, children will play...Yes, they will play. When you ask your child,”what did you do at school today”. He/she will answer, “we just played”. Play is fundamental to each child’s growth, development, and academic learning. The ‘key’ is how they played, children learn through active play (involvement) in their classroom environments. Throughout the day each child will be challenged by activities that support emotional, social, physical, and cognitive development and may not bring home a piece of paper every day but you must understand and trust learning is a lot of “work” for children.
As a parent myself, it is important to me that you feel welcomed in your child’s classroom. While your child is “playing”, we want you to feel as much a part of the program as your child does. Parents are encouraged to spend time with their child’s class getting to know the Teachers and the other children. It often helps to know who “Gabby” is when your child is trying to tell you about playing with her in the kitchen center. We have an open-door policy, which means you are welcome in our classrooms at any time. In addition, we have family events where the entire family can join us. It is always nice for Teachers to meet the Grandparent the child speaks so fondly of.
Over the past 15 years, I have dedicated myself to the education of children, families, and childcare staff in a variety of roles including Mother, Foster Mother, Teacher, Director, Family Child Care Provider and as a Friend. These roles have given me a unique perspective to working with families in child care as well as understanding and identifying the best curriculum during children’s early learning years, which is why we utilize the HighReach Learning. All HighReach Learning curriculum programs are based on the philosophy that children learn best through hands-on activities that address the needs of the whole child. In addition, each HighReach Learning curriculum reflects the belief that children need a balance of child-initiated and teacher-facilitated activities each day.
Again thank you for taking time out to read about our program and feel free to call or email me should you still have questions.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Marrero
